mother' s  Day 

ตรงกับวันที่ 12 สิงหาคมของทุกปี เป็นวันคล้ายวันพระราชสมภพนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนาถ โดยริเริ่มเป็นครั้งแรกเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2519 โดยคณะกรรมการอำนวยการ สภาสังคมสงเคราห์แห่งประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ จนถึงปัจจุบัน           The August 12 of every year is Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit's birthday. This public holiday is celebrated nationwide as Mother's Day which has been first begun since the year 1976 by The National council on Social Welfare of Thailand. The Queen is considered as the mother of all Thai people.           สัญลักษณ์ที่ใช้ในวันแม่คือ ดอกมะลิ ซึ่งมีสีขาวบริสุทธิ์ ส่งกลิ่นหอมไปไกลและ หอมได้นาน อีกทั้งยังออกดอกได้ตลอดทั้งปี เปรียบได้กับความรักอันบริสุทธิ์ของแม่ ที่มีต่อลูกไม่มีวันเสื่อมคลาย            The flower used as symbol of this day is jasmine which is naturally white colour. Its nice smell lasts for long period and spread far away. Jasmin also sprouts all year round, so we can compare this with Mother’s true love given to her children and which is never ended.

Different countries celebrate Mother’s Day on various days of the year because the day has a number of different origins.          ประเทศต่าง ๆ ก็จะฉลองงานวันแม่แตกต่างกันไปในแต่ละปีเพราะความสำคัญหรือความเป็นมาของแต่ละวันในแต่ละประเทศมีความแตกต่างกัน           One school of thought claims this day emerged from a custom of mother worship in ancient Greece, which kept a festival to Cybele, a great mother of Greeek gods. This festival was held around the Vernal Equinox .           โรงเรียนแห่งหนึ่งอ้างว่า วันนี้เกิดมาจาก วัฒนธรรมของการเคารพและบูชาแม่ในประเทศกรีกสมัครโบราณ ซึ่งรักษาเทศกาลให้กับ Cybele แม่ของพระเจ้าของกรีกที่ยิ่งใหญ่ เทศกาลนี้ได้จัดขึ้นประมาณวันวสันตวิษุวัต ( วันในฤดูใบไม้ผลิที่มีกลางคืนและกลางวันเท่ากัน)
